Travel Tips for Visiting Terracotta Warriors

Overview
Known as "the Eight Wonders of the world", the museum shows a surprisingly high level in sculpture which is listed as the most significant discovery of the 20th century. It is a super large collection of life-size terra cotta sculptures in battle formations, reproducing the mega imperial guard troops of Emperor Qin Shi Huang (259 - 210BC), the first emperor of the first unified dynasty of Imperial China. Up to now, there has discovered a total of 179 accompanying burial pits of different connotations and various shapes in Emperor Qin's Mausoleum area. 

How to get to Terracotta Army

From Xian downtown to Terracotta Warriors
Bus Routes: 
1. No. 914, 915, or Special Line 101, and get off at Terracotta Warriors Museum
2. No.306 or Tourist Line No.5 to get there, which costs 7RMB and 1 hour.

From Xian Xianyang Airport to Terracotta Warriors
Bus Routes: 
Take the Lintong Special Bus, arriving at Lintong, then change for the local bus for Terracotta Warriors (TCW).
Departure time from Xian Airport: 10:30?12:30?15:30?17:30
Bus fare: CNY 30 (excluding the local bus from Lintong to TCW)

Taxi Routes:
Taxi Ride: 66 km (about 1 hour); Taxi fare: approx. 193 yuan, plus toll fee: 30 yuan

From Xian North Railway Station to Terracotta Warriors
1. By Subway + Bus
First take subway line 2 and get off at the station of Beidajie (???), then interchange for subway line 1 and get off at the station of Fangzhicheng (??????) . Then take the special bus Tourism Bus 5 (Bus no. 306) going to TCW. The bus station is about 200 m from exit A of Fangzhicheng (Subway line 1).

2.By Taxi
Arriving at Xian North Railway Station, line up at the official taxi stand and take taxi for TCW:
Taxi Ride: about one hour and 50 km
Taxi fare: approx. 150 yuan, plus toll fee: 20 yuan

From Big Wild Goose Pagoda to Terracotta Warriors
1. By Taxi
Taxi Ride: about 30mins and 36 km
Taxi fare: about CNY140

2. By subway + Bus
First take subway line 3 and get off at the station of Tonghuamen Gate (???), then interchange for subway line 1 and get off at the station of Fangzhicheng (??????) . Then take the special bus Tourism Bus 5 (Bus no. 306) going to TCW. The bus station is about 200 m from exit A of Fangzhicheng (Subway line 1).

3. By Bus
Take bus No.307 and get to the Terra-cotta army directly.

From Xi'an Ancient City Wall to Terracotta Warriors 
1. By Taxi
Taxi Ride: about 1 hour and 42.6 km
Taxi fare: about CNY119

2. By Subway + Bus
Walk about 340meters to the Yongningmen Gate subway station to take the subway line 2, then interchange for subway line 1 at Beidajie Station and get off at the station of Fangzhicheng (??????). Then take the special bus Tourism Bus 5 (Bus no. 306) going to TCW. The bus station is about 200 m from exit A of Fangzhicheng (Subway line 1). (Note: Same as the departure stop from Bell & Drum Tower and Muslim Quarter)

How to book the tickets of Terracotta Warriors
1. Book the tickets on the official website of the Terracotta Warriors Museum, click on the ticket purchase link on the official website of Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Museum(www.bmy.com.cn) Note: Online booking can be purchased 30 days in advance. The ticket collection time is: March 16 - November 15 8:30-17:00; November 16-March 15 8:30-16:30. Tickets are valid on the same day.(Tips: you don't have to book the tickets in advance)

2. Purchase the tickets on the site. You will need an ID card or passport for each person entering. If you buy tickets on site, we suggest you go to the museum early to avoid long queues and tickets being sold-out.

How to visit the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum?
1) Rent an audio guide (recorded guide). You just pay RMB 40 an audio tour. The voice sounds like an American accent and it is easy to understand and informative.
2) Using a tour guide service. When you are going to buy your tickets at the ticketing office, tons of tour guides will come to you, eager to offer you the guide service.
