First, you will visit one of the world’s top five palaces—the Forbidden City, also known as the Palace Museum. This iconic complex stands alongside the Palace of Versailles in France, Buckingham Palace in England, the White House in the U.S., and the Kremlin in Russia as one of the most significant palatial structures globally. The Forbidden City, renowned for its grandeur and architectural splendor, was designated a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1987. Constructed over fourteen years by more than one million civilian workers, it remains the most magnificent palace complex in Chinese history. As you explore, you’ll be captivated by its vast courtyards, intricate designs, and the rich history that has shaped this imperial treasure, offering an unparalleled glimpse into China’s royal heritage.

Next, proceed to Tiananmen Square, the largest city square in the world and a central landmark of Beijing. Spanning an impressive 440,000 square meters (approximately 109 acres), Tiananmen Square can accommodate up to one million people at once, making it a focal point for major national events and celebrations. As you wander through this expansive plaza, you'll encounter significant historical landmarks, including Tiananmen Gate, where Chairman Mao Zedong proclaimed the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949. The square is not only a symbol of modern China’s political significance but also a testament to the country’s rich history and cultural heritage. Its vast open spaces, surrounded by grandiose buildings and monuments, offer a profound insight into Beijing’s role as the heart of China’s history and governance.

After exploring the Mutianyu Great Wall, you’ll proceed to the Sacred Way, a key highlight associated with the Ming Tombs. Located in Changping County, approximately 50 kilometers (31 miles) northwest of Beijing, the Ming Tombs form an extensive burial complex of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). This site encompasses thirteen imperial mausoleums, seven tombs for concubines, and one for eunuchs. Designated a World Heritage Site in 2003, the Ming Tombs are renowned for their historical significance and architectural grandeur. Each emperor’s tomb is situated at the base of a distinct hill, all connected by the Sacred Way, a grand avenue lined with statues and ceremonial arches, leading visitors through this impressive necropolis.

Xi'an Your Way Holiday

Your first stop is the Xi'an Ancient City Wall, a remarkable historical landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Constructed in the 14th century during the Ming Dynasty under Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang, this impressive fortification was designed to defend the city from invaders. It stands as one of the oldest, largest, and best-preserved city walls in China, showcasing the comprehensive features of ancient Chinese military architecture. Spanning approximately 13.7 kilometers (8.5 miles) around the city center, the wall includes watchtowers, gates, and battlements, offering a vivid glimpse into the grandeur of feudal China. For a unique experience, you may choose to rent a bike and cycle along the top of the wall, enjoying panoramic views of Xi'an’s historic skyline and gaining a deeper appreciation of this ancient marvel.

Next, you’ll visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, also known as the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, a renowned Buddhist monument located in southern Xi'an. This iconic pagoda, which has become a symbol of historic Xi'an, was originally constructed in 652 during the Tang Dynasty. Initially featuring five stories, the pagoda was rebuilt in 704 under Empress Wu Zetian and underwent further renovations during the Ming Dynasty, enhancing its striking brick facade. Standing at 64 meters (210 feet) tall, the pagoda offers a glimpse into ancient Chinese architecture and Buddhist culture. The surrounding temple grounds are adorned with beautiful gardens and ancient relics, adding to the serene and historic atmosphere of the site. As you explore, you'll gain insights into its historical significance as a key site for Buddhist scripture translation and the cultural impact it has had throughout the centuries.

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is renowned not only for its significance in Buddhist history but also for its elegant yet unadorned architectural style. This revered structure attracts countless visitors due to its profound connection to Buddhism and its status as a National Key Cultural Relic Preserve. Originally built to house sutras and Buddha figurines brought from India by the famed Buddhist monk Xuanzang, the pagoda stands as a testament to the rich exchange of cultural and spiritual knowledge between China and India. Its historical role in safeguarding these sacred texts enhances its allure, making it a captivating destination for those interested in the deep roots of Buddhist tradition and Chinese architectural heritage.

  • Today's Activities: Terracotta Warriors, Muslim Quarter
  • Accommodation: N/A
  • Meal: N/A

After breakfast, you’ll be driven to the Terracotta Warriors, a key highlight of your visit to Xi'an. Often hailed as the "Eighth Wonder of the World," the Terracotta Army is celebrated for its astonishing level of craftsmanship and historical significance. Discovered in 1974, the site showcases thousands of life-sized terracotta soldiers, horses, and chariots, all intricately sculpted and originally created to accompany the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, in the afterlife. The museum is renowned for its impressive array of burial pits, totaling 179, each with distinct arrangements and features, providing invaluable insights into the Qin Dynasty's burial practices and military structure. Remarkably, despite extensive excavation, none of the pits has been fully preserved from destruction or damage, highlighting the enduring mystery and grandeur of this ancient site.

With a history spanning over a thousand years, the quarter is famed for its mouthwatering street food, offering a diverse array of dishes influenced by Islamic culinary traditions. The streets, paved with gray flagstones, and the traditional Ming-style architecture create a charming backdrop for your exploration. Around 2000 years ago during the Han Dynasty, the Silk Road opened doors for the first Muslims to arrive in Chang'an, including merchants, envoys, and scholars. This historic influx influenced the local cuisine, which now features a rich blend of northern and western flavors. The Muslim Quarter is renowned for its distinctive Shaanxi dishes, such as savory mutton soup with flatbread, refreshing cold rice noodles, Chinese-style hamburgers, and Qishan noodles. The street also offers an array of local treats like Xi’an small cakes, Shaanxi-style pasta, and rice cakes. Dominated by beef and mutton specialties, the area is especially famous for its mouthwatering roast beef, which has become a highlight of the local culinary scene.

This Beijing and Xian private tour was great. Both tour guides are very knowledgeable and friendly, they provided so many information about their cities, the history and culture of China really impressed us. Drivers are nice and the cars are very clean with bottled water provided. Special thanks to Linda, tour guide in Xian. She made our Xian visit special. We are a family of 7 including elderly and a young kid, so we all have different needs but Linda was being so kind trying to assist us doing activities we liked such as arranding the bicycle tour for some of us who like to ride on the Xian City Wall and a shuttle for our parents so they don't have to walk far. That was really nice. Linda went
above and beyond to sort out our hotel problems, we booked the hotel by ourselves, but they couldn't find our reservation when we arrived in hotel, Linda talked with them and help us check in as the hotel staff couldn't speak English at all.
Highly recommend this Beijing and Xian Private Tour Package., they take care of you from strat to finish. Thanks Xian Private Tour company for such a great experience.
