Breif Introduction

Qinling Wild Animal Zoo is the first and biggest wild life park in Northwest China located at the foot of Mt. Qinling, just 28 km south of Xi'an downtown. Qinling Wildlife Park covers a total area of more than 320 acres and houses over 10,000 animals. Over 300 species reside across four areas: sightseeing zone, herbivore zone, predator zone and bird zone, you can see pandas, kangaroos, elephants, sea lions, hippos, and even white tigers.

The sightseeing part of Qinling Wild Animal Zoo covers an area of 130,000 square meter, houses over 8,000 animals that belong to 260 species including giant pandas, lesser pandas, Bengal tigers, kangaroos, elephants, sea lions, sea dogs, hippos, white tigers and various kinds of rare birds. You can avail of the free bus that goes around the park to get close to animals, stop by the berbivore zone for a chance to see rare animals like the white-lipped deer, Himalayan tahr, and African gnu. 

What to see in Qinling Wildlife Park

Strolling into the Qinling Wild Animal Park, the first thing that catches your eyes is a group of wooden sculptures facing the gate. They have been made to resemble lifelike and dainty human beings, eagles, black bears, monkeys and other creatures, and tell different stories about 'man and animals' and 'man and nature'. And looking at these beautiful and unforgettable sculptures, you would hardly guess that they've been made from petrified wood. It is the wonderful skills of the gardeners that endow these deadwoods with life again. 

Animal Exhibition Area
The animals' exhibition area is divided into two parts: the walking area and car-riding area. 

The walking area lies in the west part of the park. Here animals like Giant pandas, golden monkeys, brightly colored parrots, groups of flamingoes, hippopotami, kangaroos and so on can be seen. In addition, there are sea lions, seals, and groups of the largest land mammal in the world - the Asian elephant. These beautiful animals make this part of the park a very popular one. 

The car-riding area is split into two further parts: one is exhibiting herbivores, the other carnivores. The area of the herbivore exhibition is the largest in all of China. Grass-eating animals indigenous to Africa like giraffes, zebras, gnus and hartebeests can be found in the eastern part. And 15 other kinds of animals are exhibited here for the first time in the history of Xian. In the western part of the exhibit, you can find grass-eating animals from Asia, such as the 'Ship in Desert'- the Bactrian camel, and the 'Ship in Altiplano'- the yak, and so on.

You can feel the might of the ferocious beasts, the docility of the herbivore, the weirdness of reptiles, the grace and lightness of the birds through short-distanced observation. It is even possible for you to have close contact with the cute ones.

How to get to Qinling Wildl Animal Zoo

1. Take Tourist Line 9 (No. 320) from South Jinhua Road, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Xian International Exhibition Center or other bus stops and get off at the last stop. 

2. Take Huanshan Tourism Bus Line 1 and get off at Qinling Yesheng Dongwuyuan (Qinling Wildlife Park) Station. It runs from the east side of the North Square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda to Louguantai at 08:30-11:30, and returns at 13:30-17:30.
