Turpan is an important city along the ancient Silk Road and the transportation here is very convenient. It is considered to be the hub between Xinjiang and the eastern part of China. Colorful Cap
Uygur people like to wear a kind of four - edged flower cap, uygur language called "doba". All the flower caps in the north and south of tianshan mountain have distinct local characteristics. The flower caps in turpan area have strong and gorgeous colors. The whole flower cap is covered with four groups of rich flower patterns, just like a crown of flowers.

Pa La Zi (Knitting Carpet)
It is another famous traditional craftworks of Uygur in Turpan. Pa La Zi is crafted by using colorful wool to knit a variety of geometric figures. Once complete, a carpet can be used as a rug, blanket, or even as a decorative wall hanging. Sometimes the locals will wrap the carpet on the back of their horse or camel in order to use the carpet as a riding blanket.
