Overview
Luoyang is located in the south periphery of temperate zone transmitting to north subtropical zone, belonging to continental climate. It has full sunshine and distinct seasons, dry in spring, more rainfalls in summer, temperate warm in autumn and cold in winter. 

The annual average temperature is 14.86°C and quantity of heat distribution is much different due to influence of geomorphology. The annual average rainfall in the whole city is 530 - 1100 mm, more rainfall in mountainous region and less rainfall in river valleys and hilly areas, decreasing progressively from south to north. 

The annual sunshine time in he Luoyang area reaches 2083 - 2246 hours, making up 47 - 53% of the whole year. There is more sunshine from May to August, above 200 hours per month. Such kind of climate is suitable for growing of peony. This is one of he reasons why Luoyang peony is world-famous. The best season in  Luoyang is autumn and april is also a better choice. Although climate is a bit dry, yet you can see peonies vying with each other in beauty.

The Best time to visit Luoyang may be April to May in the spring and September to November in the autumn.

 During April to May when the peony fair is on in Luoyang, tourists can see peony flowers in the main scenic spots of gardens and parks. When peonies bloom in different colours, the whole garden is like a flower sea.

 Another good time to visit Luoyang is during Autumn, when visitors may find great pleasure in climbing mountains in cool weather and appreciating the blooming chrysanthemums.
