Urumqi Culture

Overview
Xinjiang is called the western region in ancient times. In history, Urumqi is the important area of the ancient Silk Road. The economic and cultural exchange center between the East and the west is the gathering place of western culture and Chinese culture. It shows the characteristics of multi culture. It is characterized by openness, enthusiasm, boldness and progress. It is the most dynamic city in Central Asia.

Ethnic minority Culture
Xinjiang is a region with a variety of ethnic minorities, the common ethnic minorities are: Uygur, Kazak, Kirgiz, Tatar, Hui, ect. Uygur, Kazak and other ethnic minority women love colorful dresses, bright or white headscarves, earrings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings and other ornaments, while men like to wear suits. Hui men are small round black and white hats, which are neat and solemn. On every occasion, all ethnic groups put on national costumes, it is bright-coloured.

Dialect
Urumqi dialect has Central Plains Mandarin, lanyinguan and so on. At the same time, there are Uighur, Kazakh and other national languages. Due to the national promotion of Putonghua, most of the citizens speak Mandarin(Chinese).

Religion
In history, Xinjiang has always been a region where many religions coexist. In the middle of the 20th century, there were six religions in Xinjiang, namely Islam, Buddhism, Taoism, Catholicism, Christianity (Protestantism) and orthodox. Uygur, Kazak, Hui, Kirgiz, Uzbek, Tajik, Tatar and other seven ethnic groups generally believe in Islam, some of the Han, Mongolian, Xibe, Daur and other ethnic groups believe in Buddhism (including Tibetan Buddhism), and some of the Han people believe in Taoism, Catholicism and Christianity.
