How to get to & around Jiayuguan

Overview
Jiayuguan City is located in the middle of Hexi Corridor, at the northwest part of Gansu Province. It is the main hub of the Silk Road and the western starting point of the Great Wall since ancient time. The transportation networks of airlines, railway, and highways in Jiayuguan have been established. It is very convenient to get to the city and leave it. There are also infrequent flights to Xian and Urumqi.

The Jiayuguan railway station is an important one in the Lanzhou to Xinjiang Railway. There are nine passenger trains passing through the city, which can carry you to Urumqi, Lanzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Chengdu and Xian.

Airport
Jiayuguan airport, formerly known as Jiuquan airport, was officially opened on July 1, 1953. Renamed as Jiayuguan airport in 1971. Officially renamed as Jiayuguan airport on November 28, 2004. Located 12 kilometers northeast of Jiayuguan City. There are 3 airlines in Jiayuguan airport which have 8 routes and 8 navigable cities, such as Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai, Lanzhou, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hangzhou and Nanjing.

Train Station
Jiayuguan station is an important station on the Lanzhou Xinjiang Railway line. It is located at Yingbin Road, 5km away from the city center. There are 9 trains to Urumqi, Lanzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Chengdu, Xi'an and other cities every day. There are special buses in the city to meet and see off passengers.

Highway
Jiayuguan has 312 National Highway across the whole Gansu province, reaching Lanzhou in the East and Urumqi in the west, with flat and wide secondary pavement. The total length of the roads in the territory is 452km. It takes about half an hour to get to Jiuquan by bus and about seven and a half hours to Dunhuang.
