We initially were going to do the Terracotta Warriors on our own (wife, myself & teenage son) however always think tour guides (when knowledgeable) make the atractions much more fun & interesting. So we booked a private day tour with Xian Private Tour. Sam/Bonnie told us that it is important of have a local guide to explain the history and context behind the sites. We were so glad we took their advice! Our guide Anna, who is a lifelong resident of Xi'an present us with endless information during the ride out of Xian to the UNESCO site. Once we arrived at the Terra-cotta Warriors, it was soon apparent that Anna knew how to move efficiently through the many groups of tourists. We slipped between buildings avoiding much of the 'tourist trap' shops, making a beeline to the important parts of the site. This allow us to maximized the time we had to see the warriors and educational displays and minimized the commercial distractions.
If you are going to Xi'an you should definitely consider a tour with Xian Private Tour. Highly recommend!
